Meet Brian Troyer, Reliability and Maintenance Excellence Leader.  He is responsible for strengthening maintenance excellence performance across Grace operations. Brian has over 30 years of experience in engineering and maintenance. He says he likes his role at Grace because it is impactful and essential to company operations.

Maintenance excellence team at Grace

The maintenance excellence team at Grace is important to the growth and wellness of our facilities. They are responsible for overall safety and reliability of equipment. If a piece of equipment is failing, it’s the team’s job to detect it, perform proper maintenance, and establish a plan for repairs that includes environmental and safety considerations as well as cost and future failure prevention.

“Our focus is on trying to be proactive versus reactive when it comes to unplanned maintenance events,” said Brian. “We work with sites to establish asset care plans (ACPs) for equipment. This allows us to have a plan in place if equipment fails, which then reduces downtime and increases productivity.”

As the team continues to create a standardized methodology to assess risks across all manufacturing sites, they are also looking for innovative problem-solvers to join their team.

“Maintenance excellence is in the early stages at Grace, which means there is a lot of opportunity for employees to come in, make a difference, and develop standards that will set a foundation and be key to our growth.”

“The ideal candidate for our team is a good change agent,” said Brian. “Maintenance excellence is in the early stages at Grace, which means there is a lot of opportunity for employees to come in, make a difference, and develop standards that will set a foundation and be key to our growth.”

Joining a mid-sized chemical company

Brian joined Grace in November 2020. Previously, he worked at Honeywell for more than three decades and held various engineering and maintenance positions. Brian said moving from a large company like Honeywell to a medium-sized chemical company like Grace was a bonus for him.

“I love what I do,” said Brian. “I work with great people who I share a mutual trust with and can easily collaborate with to drive results and make a positive impact. Leadership is also very open to change and new ideas which helps drive positive results all around.”

Brian is a native of South Carolina. He likes to spend his spare time with his two sons playing golf, tennis, boating, or water skiing. He lives on a lake near Charleston where he raises and incubates ducks.
