UNIPOL® PP Technology: The Process Technology of Choice
In 2023, UNIPOL® PP process technology celebrated a significant achievement by securing licenses for five new reactor lines and one unit expansion, resulting in nearly 2.5 million tons of polypropylene production per annum. This growth signifies the confidence that industry leaders have in UNIPOL® PP technology. Over the past five years, our process technology has been awarded licenses for more than 10 million tons per annum of new PP capacity. This expansive capacity will be used to produce a wide range of products, including homopolymers, random and impact copolymers, as well as terpolymers with a choice of close to 300 standard grades.
UNIPOL® PP Technology: Confident Polymer Startup, Every Time
Success isn't just about securing licenses; it's also about delivering on those promises. In 2023, UNIPOL® polypropylene process technology successfully started up six new reactor lines safely, smoothly, and reliably, adding nearly 2.4 million tons per annum of onstream production capacity. This is the largest annual capacity increase in its history. A crucial part of the startup is when the polymer production occurs, and with our process technology each unit produces polymers in the first 15 minutes of catalyst injection. The UNIPOL® PP technology community, with 76 reactor lines now operating and over 100 reactor lines licensed worldwide across more than 25 countries, shows the global operating footprint of our technology.
UNIPOL® PP Technology: Designed for Success
One of the most remarkable achievements of 2023 was the completion of a 650 KTA (kilotons per annum) basic engineering design package for a licensee. This represents the largest single reactor line ever designed for UNIPOL® PP technology. This milestone illustrates our commitment to innovation in polypropylene resin production by driving efficiency through the economy of scale.

By the end of 2023, UNIPOL® PP technology will have reached a milestone of more than 1,250 reactor years of plant operations. This all gas-phase process technology delivers innovative solutions for a Plant Lifetime Performance™ commitment to its licensees, allowing them to successfully participate in today’s highly competitive global polypropylene resin industry.
